PRR 9465, FF-20, c. 1963
Altoona Action. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Al Chione that was taken in the Pennsylvania Railroad's Erecting & Machine Shop storage yard in Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1963. Prominent here is PRR engine #9465, an FF-20 built by Fairbanks-Morse in January of 1948, rated at 2,000 horsepower, and retired in September of 1962 after just 14 years of revenue service. In this context, it's being "cannibalized" for parts. The photographer's name and the exact date are not recorded.
