SLSF 2-8-0 #850 - St Louis-San Francisco (Frisco)         
Good looking Alco-Brooks 2-8-0 Consolidation built in August of 1905 originally as Detroit Southern Rwy #98., Interesting history, the Detroit Southern Railway #98, became DT&I 98 in 1905, repossessed in April 1909 by ACF Trust, sold to the New Iberia & Northern as #1 in 1912, and finally became SL-SF 850 in 1916. It was scrapped at Joplin in November 1946. Specs - class 850, serial #38033, 57" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 19.5x28" cylinders, engine weight of 174,500 lb. tractive effort of 31,754 lb. The loco was retired in November of 1946. No location, date or photographer was listed for this photo but it does look like the St Louis shops buildings in the background. Date used is approximate.
