| Niles II. Here is the eighth of 19 original photos by George Niles, Jr., that were taken at the Pennsylvania Railroad's Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, perhaps during 1952. Shown here is a pair of I-1SA (2-10-0) "Decapods" pushing a mixed-cargo freight train around the Curve and up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin, where they'll uncouple and return to East Altoona for yet another helper-pusher run up "The Mountain." The number of the N-5C cabin car, the locomotive road numbers, and the exact date are not recorded. |
