| Here is page three of a five-page camera study entitled "Pennsy Steam Engines Will Be Sent To Museums." It was published originally in the July 1968 issue of "Railroad" magazine, page 17. Top Photo Caption: "Mikado type 520, class L-1s, was stored outdoors for a while, as this photo taken by W. Neil some time ago shows." Engine #520 is an L-1S (2-8-2) "Mikado" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during December of 1916 and retired in August of 1957. Bottom Photo Caption: "Much-modified front of No. 3750, which masquerades as 1737, the original K-4." Engine #1737 is a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built in Juniata as number "3750" during March of 1920, renumbered "1737" in 1956, and renumbered "3750" in 1973. Both of these locomotives are presently on display at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania. |
