|Altoona Action. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Al Chione that was taken West of Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 10 September 1951. The photographer is not identified. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #9547 and two more "EH" Class units whose numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9547 was built as an EH-15 in November of 1948, later regeared and reclassified as an EF-15, and retired in December of 1963. They're serving as pushers on a freight train on its way up the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to Gallitzin, where these three engines will uncouple and return to East Altoona for yet another helper/pusher run up "The Mountain." Looks to me like this photo was taken from the last car of a moving eastbound train!
