PRR 7002, E-7SA, 1949
Here are two letters to the editor which were published originally in the October 1949 issue of "Trains" magazine, page 54. Taken together, they delineate both the fate of speedster E-2 #2007 and how E-2A #8063 was transformed into an ersatz #2007. Top Photo: Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #8063, an E-2A (4-4-2) "Atlantic" built in Juniata during 1902, rebuilt as an E-7SA in October of 1918, withdrawn from service in August of 1939, renumbered "7002" in June of 1949, and presently on display at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg.
