Ed Cooper General Does anyone have details on the rebuilding of PRR 5805 on a new underframe? 5/28/2020 11:46:03 AM
warren evans General Chuck this engine was sent right EMD a was scrapped then EMD took an E9A out the production line and derated to 2250hp and the model was changed from E9A to E8A. The 5805A 1st. was scrapped at McCOOK, Ill. and the 5805A. 2nd. became PC. 4270. 7/16/2021 2:17:02 PM
warren evans General The 5805A 2nd. was built as a replacement unit in 5-23-1954 since it had to use the same serial number as the 5805A. 1st. to keep the lease trust by law during this time period this law was changed started in 1956. EMD E9A production period ran from 1954 to 1963 and the E8A production period ended in 12-1953 so there you have it. 7/16/2021 2:24:34 PM
