"Railroad" Magazine, April 1960
Here is a photo taken by Mr. Bud Rothaar. It's the cover illustration on the April 1960 issue of "Railroad" magazine. Photo Caption: "A dramatic night repair job on the cab-signal receiving bar of a Pennsy sharknose diesel at the South Amboy, N.J., enginehouse." Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5778, a BP-20 built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in October of 1948, sustained damage during a wreck on 7 February 1956, and retired in March of 1964 after just 16 years of revenue service. (N.B.: See Maynard Krug's RRPA page for photos of this wreck in Kokomo, Indiana.)
