| Kern. Here is the second of two successive 35mm color slides of photos by Fred Kern that were taken near Cove, Pennsylvania, on 10 March 1957. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #6969, #7040, and another "Geep" whose road number is not recorded. #6969 is an M-1 (4-8-2) "Mountain" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during December of 1926 and retired in June of 1959. #7040 is an EFS-17M built by GM-EMD in November of 1955 and rated at 1,750 horsepower. |
