Cumberland Mountain Pushers
The pushers have helped a southbound coal drag over the mountain from Cowan. Now they are backing down the north end of the double track at Tantallon help pull a northbound train of auto racks over Cumberland Mountain. The Cowan Pusher District is one of the oldest in the country, dating back to the inception of the Nashville & Chattanooga Railroad in the 1850's.
