Private Car SILVER FOOT
On Christmas Eve 1976 Chicago Medical Equipment car CME 300 SILVER FOOT was being hand-washed at New Orleans Union Passenger Terminal. It had been built by Pullman-Standard in April 1956 as Union Pacific 5-double-bedroom / buffet / lounge car OGDEN and in 1967 the UP redesignated it as staff car 126. It was sold to Great Western Enterprises in 1971, where it became the 126 REDWOOD, and was later sold to CME. The car got its name because CME was owned by a group of podiatrists! Subsequent to this photo it was assigned Amtrak number 800279 and was rebuilt into an open-platform car.
