CN 4-8-4 #6400 - Canadian National
Although not dated, this almost appears to be the Royal train carrying King George VI and Queen Elizabeth of Britain when they made an extended visit to Canada in 1939. However, Raymond Kennedy (see comment below) pointed out that the Royal Coat of Arms is missing on the nose. The 4-8-4 Confederation (CN's label for Northern wheel configuration) has a high shine not often seen under normal travel - hence the guess about the passengers. Built by Montreal Locomotive Works in June of 1936, it led a very distinguished service and was the only U-4 class member to be saved from the scrapper's torch. In June of 1967, it was donated to the National Museum of Science & Technology in Ottawa, Canada where it is now on display W.G. Fancher photo
