| Back in 1997 when an unknown photographer took these photos, the former Rock Island depot was serving to an official Iowa welcome center with signs posted on I-35 for travelers. Unfortunately, due to Iowa state cutbacks in 2015, the signs along I-35 were removed and subsequent loss of state welcome center funds left the depot much quieter and closed part of the year. The depot still houses local historical and railroad items. Does anyone know the current status |
