PRR 4646, I-1SA, c. 1955
Prophet. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by John M. Propher III that was taken near Snedikerville, Pennsylvania, on the Elmira Bransh. Shown here are two Pennsylvania Railroad freight trains: one moving, the other waiting. The moving train on the left is northbound, and has PRR trainphone-equipped N-5 cabin car #477772 on the tail end. The waiting train on the right is southbound, and is powered by PRR engine #4646, an I-1SA (2-10-0) "Decapod" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as an I-1S during October of 1923, rebuilt in Juniata as an I-1SA in February of 1937, and retired in April of 1955 after 32 years of faithful service. The exact date is not recorded. (Parade 2)
