Robert Tennyson General Nice Shot of Conrail's last day! Conrail freight cars that received a fresh coat of paint started receiving NYC reporting marks in early 1998, even before the merger was approved by the STB. Conrail locomotives started receiving PRR patches in March 1999, and CSX started patching their Conrail units CSXT shortly after the merger. Most, if not all, CR units that went to CSX were unpatched on Day One, but many, though not all, CR units that went to NS were already patched. Some NS-CR units were quickly repatched NS after Day One, while some original NS locomotives were patched PRR. NS and CSX controlled their shares of Conrail through the separate entities PRR Lines LLC and NYC Lines LLC. Conrail was split into PRR and NYC on August 22, 1998 (Control Date). NS and CSX absorbed PRR LLC and NYC LLC in August 2004. Most of the NYC and PRR patches have been patched over since August 04. 8/15/2011 1:52:29 PM
