Built in 1876 as the IC Northern Division headquarters, it remained as such until 1894 when its importance and duties were downsized to just a depot status. Beautifully restored and maintained Illinois Central depot at Amboy, iL, now serves as one of the museum buildings for historical artifacts. It now stands as an lone island of railroading with no tracks through the town. |
