The use of a single unit on coal trains was not typical, as they usually got a total of five units over the Heavener Sub. At this time, the practice was to put a pair of DPUs about 85 cars deep in the train, with one on the rear, a 2x2x1 arrangement. This is the "1", an SD 70ACe bringing up the rear on this 125 car AEPX train.
