IC 4-8-2 #2411 - Illinois Central  Contributor's Pick!
Somewhat fuzzy pic scanned directly from the original negative. The beautiful 4-8-2 Mountain type locomotive was built by Alco-Schenectady in 1923. Although no date or location was given, I believe this is Chicago, IL, possibly 27th Street with the excellent help from Mary Rae McPherson (see comment belo). The date is possibly 1923 as it appears to be a newly delivered locomotive. Specs - class 2400, builder #64580, 73.5" drivers, impressive 225 psi boiler pressure, 24x28" cylinders, engine wt 362,500 lb, tractive effort of 57,120 lb. Unknown photographer.
