KCS Train 53         
At 8:45 Kansas City Southern train No. 53 was near the end of its run from Dallas to the Seaboard System's Gentilly Yard in eastern New Orleans. The train was on the Southern Railway's New Orleans Terminal Co. subsidiary near Elysian Fields Avenue, and was about to get onto the SBD at L&N Junction. The motive power was GP40-2 798, F7A slug 4060 and GP40 788.
