Here is the front cover of a 64-page booklet published by Harry P. Albrecht entitled "World Famous Horseshoe Curve, Altoona, Pennsylvania Railroad." It was first issued in September of 1973. Photo Caption: "Engine No. 4595, Class I-1s, working a heavy westbound tonnage train around the Curve towards Gallitzin around 1948." Photo by Frank Quin. Shown here is PRR engine #4595, an I-1SA (2-10-0) "Decapod" built during September of 1923, rebuilt in Juniata as an I-1SA in October of 1944, and retired in September of 1959 after 36 years of faithful service.
