NS lift bridge
This is the NS lift bridge over the Mississippi River at Hannibal, MO. It was built in 1871 by the Wabash, and was originally a swing bridge. It also carried horse & wagon and motor vehicle traffic until 1936 when the adjacent highway bridge was built. In 1993 the swing span was replaced with this lift span from a Southern Railway bridge in Florence, AL.
