Allegheny Portage Railroad, 2016
Portage. Here is a photo "borrowed" from the Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site's website on Facebook. Shown here is the South-facing portal of a stone culvert near the western-most point between Inclined Planes #8 (to the left) and #9 (to the right), just below where the Muleshoe Curve was built over the Railroad's right-of-way. Photo Caption: "Here's another view of the restored culvert. You can see where the new stonework was pieced into the barrel of the vault toward the outside of the arch on each side. The National Park Service has restored this and about ten others in the park. This one was restored long enough ago (early-2000's) that the exterior has weathered to the point that it looks like it has always been there. (dkb)"
