Allegheny Portage Railroad, 1972
Portage. Here is an original photo that I took of the Allegheny Portage Railroad right-of-way just West of Duncansville, Pennsylvania, during the Summer of 1972. Shown here is the South-facing portal of a stone culvert near the western-most point between Inclined Planes #8 (to the left) and #9 (to the right), just below where the Muleshoe Curve was built over the Railroad's right-of-way. If you look closely, you can see Dr. Lloyd R. Ayers (my father) and "Millie" (our family dog) walking atop the culvert!
