NOPB S8 50
New Orleans Public Belt Baldwin S8 number 50 was running light and heading south along the Inner Harbor Navigation Canal, also known locally as the Industrial Canal. The 20-year-old locomotive had just crossed the Southern Railway's New Orleans Terminal Co. and was on the bridge over the Florida Avenue Canal, about to cross Florida Avenue. The smokestacks in the background were at the Lone Star Cement plant, a long-time landmark in this area. The 50 would be traded-in to EMD for new power and was scrapped in New Orleans later in 1971. (approximate month and day)
