DRGW 2-8-8-2 #3616 - Denver & Rio Grande Western  Contributor's Pick!
Powerful b&w photo of the 2-8-8-2 "Chesapeake" type steam locomotive built by Alco in June of 1930. The massive unit hauled freight until its demise in October of 1956. Photo credit to Roy F. Blackburn. Location was given as Tunnel, CO. I'm assuming that it means Tunnel #1 in Colorado. Let me know if it's incorrect.

Stephen Walden General D&RGW 3616 was a class L-132 locomotive. No one knew it as a Chesapeake type. Location does not look like photos near Tunnel 1 on Moffat Tunnel district. Could be near Tabernash or Byers CO. Best of luck finding location. Steve www.corailroads.com 1/11/2022 2:05:33 AM
