Soo Line passenger main looking SW at near Hwy 36.
This shot gives you a perspective of the good track structure that once carried Soo Line trains 1,2,5 and 6 from St. Paul to Chicago. We are just NE of Hwy 36 looking south at the same curve on the bridge picture. This line was all 90 lb rail and double spiked on the outside of the curves and easily super elevated enough for the 59 mph speed limits back in the day. The last passenger train was Jan. 15th, 1965.
