| Kansas City Southern SD40-2 652 was the railroad's first gray locomotive, completed at Shreveport at the beginning of April 1988; and when it was photographed outside the diesel shop at West Yard almost two years alter, gray units were still pretty uncommon. The other locomotives in this set of SD40-2's were snoot 690, the 649 and snoot 679. Quartets of 6-axle power were really unusual in New Orleans. |
