KCS SD40-2 642         
By the time this photo was taken under the train washer at West Yard, Kansas City Southern SD40-2 642 - one of the railroad's two bicentennial units - was so filthy one could barely tell what colors it wore; but the cab was purple!

Rob Sarberenyi General The cab was painted pink, not purple. KCS 642 was painted identical to their other bicentennial painted unit, SD40 616. The scheme was a result of a contest held for grade school kids to devise a scheme to celebrate America's bicentennial.
