"Death Of A Locomotive," Page 16, 1958
Here is page one of a two-page article entitled "Death Of A Locomotive: Steam Power Ends Its Passenger Service." It was published originally in the January-February 1958 issue of "Pennsy" magazine, page 16. Top Photo Caption: "The PRR's last scheduled passenger steamer makes its final run, still fast and rugged. Engine is K-4, once pride of the fleet." Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5351, a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built in Juniata during March of 1924 and retired in April of 1958 after 34 years of faithful service. The "last run" in question was a morning commuter run from Pemberton to Camden on Tuesday, 12 November 1957.
