Ready to Rock (#2 of 3), 1966
4th Street. Here is an original telephoto view that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad trains in Altoona, Pennsylvania, during April of 1966. Shown here are ten freight trains parked in the Altoona Yards, all awaiting crews and/or locomotives so that they can begin climbing the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to Gallitzin and points West. Visible on the left, under the new 4th Street Bridge, is WORKS Tower. (Photo taken with a 135mm telephoto lens from the 7th Street Bridge.)
