Awaiting Crews, 1964
4th Street. Here is an original photo that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad trains in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 15 August 1964. Shown here are four freight trains parked in the Altoona Yards, all awaiting crews so that they can begin climbing the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to Gallitzin and points West. Also visible on the left are two passenger cars awaiting reconditioning in the PRR's Passenger Car Shops behind them. This photo taken from the 4th Street Bridge.
