Each IORE operates with 600 kN tractive effort and has a maximum speed of 80 km/h (50 mph). The 8600-tonne 68-car trains (each with 100 t of ore pellets) are hauled by two single-ended Co'Co' locomotives, each with a power output of 5,400 kW.
