| E&M. Here is an original photo that I took at the Pennsylvania Railroad's Juniata E&M Shop Yard in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 10 August 1963. Shown here is a view to the right of the trusty turntable. Visible are dozens of locomotives in various states of repair: from work almost finished to being cannibalized. Many makes and models are represented. Visible in the foreground is what is left of PRR engine #7071, an EFS-17M built by EMD in 1956 and rated at 1,750 horsepower. Directly beyond it is PRR engine #8987, a BS-12 built by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton in 1951 and rated at 1,200 horsepower. |
