PRR 5809, EP-22, 1965
Winter. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 03 January 1965. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #5809, #5842-B, and #5890. All were built by EMD. #5809 is an EP-22 built in 1951 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. #5824-B is an EP-20 built in 1947 and rated at 2,000 horsepower. #5890 is an EP-22 built in 1950 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. They are pulling a 19-car westbound passenger train and are about to stop at the Altoona Passenger Station; the time is 2:11 P.M. Visible in the background are some of the PRR's Passenger Car Shops.
