PRR 6040, EF-30A, 1966
Mid-Mountain. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train West of Altoona, Pennsylvania, during mid-June of 1966. Shown here (R to L) are PRR engines #6040 and #6055. Both are EF-30A's built by EMD in 1966 and rated at 3,000 horsepower each. They are pushing a westbound mixed-cargo freight train up the Allegheny Mountains, but will uncouple at Gallitzin and return to East Altoona for yet another run up the Mountains.
