BNSF 6424 - BNSF 6055 - BNSF 8304 double-stack triple southeast of Vaughn headed away from town... and while it looks flat out there, were up more than a mile from sea level. (Please note there is a chance these registry identifications are incorrect... use of the back-up camera and lower distance resolution than intended.)

Tom Beckett General You make a good point about the elevation. If I recall, Vaughn is above 6000 feet. This eastbound will gradually descend to 4265 as it reaches Clovis, and Amarillo at approximately 3700 feet-that's a half mile of vertical distance. Especially in the Llano Estacado east of Ft Sumner into the Texas panhandle, the terrain looks pool table flat in places. It's not. Eastbounds don't have too much work to get over the road. Westbounds are almost constantly climbing til they reach Scholle, at the east end of Abo Canyon. It only looks flat!! BTW, I cannot understand why US 60 is posted 55 MPH out there.
