L&N Train No. 9
Louisville & Nashville 4-6-2 233 leads train Number 9 along Elysian Fields Avenue at Dauphine Street. This was the commuter train from Ocean Springs, Mississippi and it was just a few minutes from its destination at the railroad's station on Canal Street. The crossing flagman has climbed down from the tower and is on the right, protecting the crossing, while an ice cream cart waits on the left. The 233 was one of 24 K-4 class Pacifics (216-239) constructed at the railroad's South Louisville Shops between 1914 and 1918. It was built in 1915 and retired on 16 October 1951.
