Here is page three of a three-page article entitled "Farewell to Steam." It was published originally in the July-August 1960 issue of "Pennsy" magazine, page 3. Photo Caption: "The Last Steam Locomotive in Pennsylvania Railroad service, retired July 15, 1959." Shown here is PRR engine #5244, a B-6SB (0-6-0) switcher built in Juniata during February of 1916 and retired on 15 July 1959 after 43 years of faithful service. It's pulling a northbound freight train across the Union Transportation Company's Lahaway Creek Trestle near Hornerstown, New Jersey. #5244 ~ the last PRR steamer standing ~ was built to last by Altoona railroaders!
