Number 165A is seen switching Kroeher Manufacturing Company in Naperville on this photo date. Usually this chore was handled by the East End Way Freight. I'm not sure why a road feight got the job on this date. I would speculate that either there was not enough work for the way freight to call a crew, or there were not enough crew men available to operate the way freight (this was in the era of five crew men per train). Whatever the case, this was highly unusual. |
