Making him wait  Contributor's Pick!
Conrail was not shy about making the D&H wait on the Tier, but occasionally practicality and common sense won out. Today is one of those days, as BUME rolls 49 cars through West BD on track 2, headed for East Binghamton, while an XCL empty coal train cools its heels on the former DLW, having come out track 3 from downtown with 35 hoppers for Clearfield PA. That's the Vestal Spur in the lower right corner, the remaining portion of what was the DLW's 70 MPH main line. It now runs a few miles out to Vestal to serve the few remaining local customers.
