NYC 4-8-2 #2512 - New York Central  Contributor's Pick!       
Nearing the end of its life, this 1918 Alco-Schenectady built 4-8-2 Mohawk (not Mountain on the NYC), served an unusual dutiy seen here According to the note on the back of the photo "4 New York Central R.R. pass. Engines #5210, 5224, 52XX & 2512 furnish steam power at Monsanto Chemical Co Sp'f'ld Mass. During June 1953 during power plant repairs. These engines all slated to be scrapped." No photographer listed.
