| This shot is from February 1972 in the PC days. I'm standing a few hundred feet south of Ridge Rd. on the east side of the NYC, pointing the camera north. What looks to be structure on the extreme right is actually the billboard close to the Ridge, so that should give you an idea of the location and distance. B&O 6541 and 5928 are waiting patiently on the B&O main for the Kodak security guard to arrive and open up the gate. The 1st Belt job is returning from Charlotte with F's 1775, 1784 and ? running elephant style and GP9B 3827 tucked in the rear. RS-1's were the norm in the '60s, followed briefly by RS2/3's. Before the second generation Alcos (RS-32 and similar) arrived, PC got their monies' worth out of the last of the first generation EMDs by putting them in local service. F7A-GP9B-F7A lash-ups were common on Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse local jobs. |
