Conrail had 100 units they designated GP 10, rebuilt from the several hundred GP 9s inherited from its component roads at start up. Typically, these were found in eastern PA, though sometimes elsewhere in the system. Work trains on the Tier tended to get B23-7s, U23Bs, and GP 38s or 40s for power, so it was unusual to find one of these GP 10s at Waverly on a work extra picking up old ties. It was nice to hear the mellow 567 sound as it worked past. Check out the railfan chase vehicle at left, and how about the side of that building??
