Good shot of the nearly new tender on this 1941 Lima Mikado being filled by a conveyer belt loader, much like the Lionel model! This loco was one of only 12 built by Lima for the DTI between 1940-44. Specifics - class 800, 63" diameter drivers, 23" x 30" cylinders, a 260 psi boiler pressure, they exerted 55,671 pounds of tractive effort and each weighed 369,500 pounds, 8 wheel tenders. All were scrapped between 1953-56. Paul W. Prescott photo |
