NP 1 "Minnetonka"  Contributor's Pick!
I love this engine. It is nice how it shares the name of a Minnesota lake--one which, incidentally, the Northern Pacific did not serve, but its sister road Great Northern did. Northern Pacific successor BNSF still technically owns this engine, but its management nixed an idea to move it to BNSF headquarters at Fort Worth, Texas, a decade ago. The Northern Pacific was born in Duluth, which makes the "Minnetonka"'s longtime home appropriate.
