BNSF Transfer  Contributor's Pick!       
BNSF Transfer Job Y-BIR104 passing through North Birmingham, Al. on their way to interchange with CSXT at Boyles Yard with a pair of blue GP38-2s with the BNSF lettering nicknamed Smurfs for their blue & white paint scheme, the 2046 is a former Penn Central/Conrail/GMTX GP38-2 while the 2048 is a former MKT ( Katy )/EMDX GP40 that was rebuilt to GP38-2 specifications, these particular units have been assigned to the Birmingham, Al. area for a few years now, sometimes teamed up & other times seperated & teamed with other BNSF units
