CB&Q 4-6-2 Class S-1 2829
Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad 4-6-2 Class S-1 2829 presumed at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on an unknown date in 1906, photograph by Baldwin Locomotive Works, Chuck Zeiler collection. Number 2829 was built by Baldwin in January 1907 ( c/n 30011 ) as a Class S-1, rebuilt in 1927 to Class S-1-A, sold for scrap in January 1951. I must apologize for the quality of the photo. I usually clean these scans up, but this one was too far gone. In the 1980's you could purchase prints from Baldwin negatives from H. L. Broadbelt, and they were of excellent quality, to the point that you could read the number on the builder's plate. However, this one came to me like this, so I presumed that the Baldwin negative was damaged. I took a run at cleaning it up (below the trailing truck on the turntable) but it would take a long time to make this presentable. So I'm uploading as-is, maybe at a future date I can replace it.
