| Handley, WV was once a bustling facility for the former C&O. In steam days, there was a coaling tower (still standing), water tower, roundhouse and other maintenance facilities. Several tracks had been removed by August 1987 (date uncertain); some of these led to the diesel fueling racks. The tower (cabin, on C&O) had a downstairs office and one upstairs. Dad used to work as an "operator" in the downstairs office and he said the yardmaster worked in the upstairs office. This view looks west. West Virginia highway 61 is barely visible to the left. |
