| BNSF Transfer Job Y-BIR103 doing some street running in North Birmingham, Al. on their way to interchange with NS at North Yard before returning back to East Thomas Yard with a pair of blue & white GP38-2's lettered for BNSF, not many of these are around & especially in teams paired up, these have been assigned to Birmingham for quite a while but sometimes get split up & assigned to other parts of the BNSF System. The 2048 is a former MKT/EMDX GP40 rebuilt to GP38-2 specifications & the 2046 is a former Penn Central/Conrail/GMTX GP38-2 & are nicknamed Smurfs for their blue & white paint scheme |
