This was the first 6-8-4 Northern type locomotive built by Alco-Schenectady in 1929 for the Rock Island RR. According to a note written by photographer Floyd L. Paige(?) on back "Rock Island No 5000 4-8-4, fast frieght (sic) type 9 largest engine road owns." Specifics - Class R-65a, Specnfics - 69" drivers, 250 psi boiler pressure, 26x32" cylinders, 434,000 lb engine weight, 66,620 lb tractive effort.
